Question: I am getting an error as the client didn't have any salary or wage income but there is an occupation code.

How do I get rid of the occupation code? Also, spouse income keeps pre-filling to nil, but there is no spouse and every time I delete it, it reappears.

To resolve these issues, please follow these steps:

1. Removing the Occupation Code:

  • Navigate to the Form Configuration Screen by clicking the four square dots at the top right of the form.
  • In the configuration options, turn off the "PAYG" section. This will remove the occupation code requirement and related errors if the client has no salary or wage income.
  • If you need to specify an occupation description for salary/wage income, you can select from the ATO-approved occupation codes. If no appropriate occupation applies, use code 999000 - Occupation not Listed as a last resort.

2. Handling Spouse Income Field:

  • In the same Form Configuration Screen, turn off the "Spouse" section to prevent the spouse income field from appearing or pre-filling.
  • This setting controls whether spouse-related fields are included on the tax return form. Turning it off stops the unwanted nil incomes from showing.
