When importing data from QuickBooks Online (QBO) into LodgeiT, account names do not show the full account hierarchy.

For example:
“MV Loan [MV Name] – Unexpired Interest” displays only as “Unexpired Interest.”

When there are multiple vehicles, this makes it time-consuming to identify which sub-account belongs to which parent account.
Is it possible for LodgeiT to display the parent account name?

Answer

Currently, LodgeiT pulls QuickBooks Online account names exactly as they are provided by QBO, without expanding or displaying the parent account hierarchy during account mapping or classification.

Because QuickBooks Online does not pass the full parent–child account structure in the data feed, LodgeiT is unable to display parent account names alongside sub-accounts.

Workaround / Recommended Solution

To make sub-accounts easier to identify after import, we recommend renaming accounts directly in QuickBooks Online before importing into LodgeiT.

Best Practice Naming Convention

Add a clear and unique prefix to the sub-account name, such as:

  • MV001_Unexpired Interest

  • MV002_Unexpired Interest

  • Camry_Unexpired Interest

  • Hilux_Unexpired Interest

This ensures each sub-account remains easily identifiable within LodgeiT, even when multiple vehicles or similar accounts exist.

Important Notes

  • Changes must be made in QuickBooks Online prior to importing

  • Renaming affects how accounts appear across all QBO-connected reports and integrations

  • LodgeiT reflects account names exactly as received from QBO

Summary

  • LodgeiT does not expand or display parent account names from QuickBooks Online

  • This is due to how QBO provides account data

  • Renaming sub-accounts with identifiable prefixes is the recommended workaround
