Scenario
A company would like to lodge its Company Tax Return through LodgeiT and wants to know:
- Does the Company Tax Return need to be signed or lodged using the public officer's myID?
- Can an employee lodge the return on behalf of the public officer after the return has been reviewed and approved?
- Is authorisation through the ATO Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) required?
Answer
A Company Tax Return does not need to be lodged using the public officer's myID.
An employee or another authorised person may lodge the Company Tax Return on behalf of the public officer, provided that:
- The public officer has reviewed and approved the tax return before lodgement.
- The company has authorised LodgeiT through the ATO Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM).
- The person lodging the return has the appropriate authority to act on behalf of the company.
Once these requirements are met, the authorised person can submit the return through LodgeiT on behalf of the company.
Prerequisite: Authorise LodgeiT in RAM
Before lodging Company Tax Returns through LodgeiT, the company must establish an authorisation via the ATO's Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM). This allows LodgeiT to interact with the ATO on the company's behalf and ensures the lodgement process meets ATO requirements. Learn more
Important Note
