Overview

To lodge tax returns through LodgeiT as a tax agent, you must have an ABN registered for your tax agent practice.

Example Scenario

You are a registered Tax Agent employed by another tax agent but are not self-employed and do not have your own ABN. You want to lodge your personal tax return, your spouse’s tax return, and your family trust tax return for the 2026 financial year.

Why Am I Unable to Lodge?

LodgeiT requires an ABN to lodge tax forms as a tax agent. Without an ABN, you may encounter an error when attempting to lodge.

What Are My Options?

  • Individual tax return: You may lodge your personal tax return through the ATO’s myTax service.

  • Other tax returns: For your spouse’s tax return and family trust tax return, consult your employer or another registered tax agent about the appropriate lodgment arrangement.

Note:

If you are unsure whether you can lodge returns under your employer’s tax agent practice, confirm the requirements with the ATO or LodgeiT Support before proceeding.
